Noventiq's Dennis Montanje at AWS re:Invent 2023 - day 3

Wednesday 29/11

The opening session of the day was the keynote of Dr. Swami Sivasubramanian (Vice President Data and AI). In just under two hours, more depth was given about all the developments of GenAI. In the days before it was already mentioned several times, but today’s session made it much clearer: there is not one Large Language Model (LLM) that will rule the world. Every LLM has its own use cases and will keep evolving over time. Therefore, AWS provided many different LLM’s in Amazon Bedrock. During the keynote, the support for even more LLM’s was announced, next to many other developments to enable more use case and make the creation thereof easier.

During the keynote a few customers presented their use cases. The one from Booking.com I found most interesting and absolutely worth watching.

Whilst participating in the workshop to create personalized marketing content with generative AI, I have experienced firsthand how easy it is to have multiple LLM’s integrated in your application with Amazon Bedrock. This was only one of the many workshops to showcase the use of AI.

After lunch I decided to go back to the Expo and found many more booths to visit that I apparently missed in the days before. Some of these conversations will be followed up.

The AWS Partner keynote in the afternoon by Dr. Ruba Borno was open to all participants of the re:Invent conference and, although focused on AWS partners, also very interesting for AWS customers. Many announcements were made, of which two really stood out for me. The first is a statement by McKinsey that GenAI can add a staggering $4.4T to the global economy! This underlines how impactful the GenAI technology is and that we are at the beginning of this era.

The second is that 83% of the AWS customers rank Competencies as top 3 to select a partner. With an AWS Competency an AWS partner demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success in specialized areas cross industry, use case, and workload.

One of these new Competencies launched is Resilience, related to the availability and resilience of critical workloads in the cloud. I’m very proud that Noventiq is one of the few partners globally that are a launching partner of this new competency! We celebrated this fantastic news during the EMEA Networking Reception where nearly 1.000 people from the whole region gathered in a very relaxed atmosphere. Thank you AWS for organizing this create party!
